Education

In common with other London Livery Companies, the Dyers are proud to be associated with a number of schools.

St. Saviours and St. Olave’s

The Dyers’ connection with St Saviour’s grew  directly out of the earlier link which had been established successfully with Boutcher Primary School; the latter has for many years been an important ‘feeder’ school for St Saviour’s and it seemed logical for the Company to have an association with both schools. St Saviour’s was formally ‘adopted’ by the Dyers in 1997. The then Headteacher, Irene Bishop, warmly welcomed this development and it has been carried forward with equal enthusiasm by her successor and current Headteacher, Catherine May.

Queen’s Gurkha Signals

The Queen’s Gurkha Signals are the Dyers’ most recent affiliation, which we were honoured to establish in 2015, especially given the story behind our affiliation.

Diversity and Inclusion Statement

The Dyers’ Company is committed to being an inclusive employer and supporter of greater diversity among its membership. The Company has a ‘no tolerance’ attitude to any form of discrimination based on age,  disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief.  The aim is to foster a culture where everyone is treated with consideration, respect and courtesy.

The Livery

Unlike most other Livery Companies the Dyers’ Company does not have a Master, but instead has two Wardens:  The Prime Warden and the Renter Warden.  Each is a 12 month term of office, with the holder elected annually in October.

Millennium Window

This superb stained glass window was created by Mr J N Lawson of Goddard & Gibbs Studios Ltd.  The contemporary design is intended to represent the activities and affiliations of the Company:

617 Squadron, RAF

Our affiliation with this famous World War 2 Bomber Squadron began in 1989 initiated by the late Philip Back DFC (PW 1990-91), a former Pathfinder pilot.

4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment

In 1957 the Company adopted the 10th (Volunteer) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (10 PARA), a London based Territorial Army ( TA) Battalion.

Universities

Our support for universities and further education goes back a long way, but some of our relationships are relatively new.
