The Dyers’ connection with St Saviour’s grew directly out of the earlier link which had been established successfully with Boutcher Primary School; the latter has for many years been an important ‘feeder’ school for St Saviour’s and it seemed logical for the Company to have an association with both schools. St Saviour’s was formally ‘adopted’ by the Dyers in 1997. The then Headteacher, Irene Bishop, warmly welcomed this development and it has been carried forward with equal enthusiasm by her successor and current Headteacher, Catherine May.
In 1957 the Company adopted the 10th (Volunteer) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (10 PARA), a London based Territorial Army ( TA) Battalion.
For many years the Dyers’ Company have provided financial support to over a dozen academic institutions.

After the coronation of Elizabeth II the Lord Mayor suggested that links between the Livery Companies and HM Armed Forces should be renewed, and the Dyers’ Company has affiliations with five sections of the Armed Forces.
The terms “coat of arms” relates to the design placed on a medieval chainmail “surcoat”. This is portrayed as a design on a shield which also includes supporters, a crest, and a motto.
